If you have false teeth or missing teeth, did you ever think about how dental implants could change your life?
That’s exactly what a Professor of Dentistry at McGill University in Canada recently did. That professor, Dr Jocelyne Feine, studied the costs and health benefits for those who had recently had dental implants. According to Dr Feine, the reactions of those who had implants were “phenomenal.”
Dr Feine concluded that recipients of dental implants eat better, live better and are healthier than those who don’t have implants. She noted that implants made significant differences in the lives of the subjects.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are titanium devices that are implanted into the jaw. They provide support for individual crowns and for entire sets of artificial teeth. Implants make artificial teeth more secure and more natural looking. Standard upper dentures cover the palate, removing a great deal of the sensory pleasure from eating food and drinking wine.
However, implants aren’t for everyone. Your gums must be healthy and your bone must be able to support the implant. You do need to commit to regular dental visits and great oral hygiene. A dentist can assess your suitability for dental implants. If it is determined that you are a good candidate, surgery can be performed in our office.
The surgery can be performed under local anaesthetic, general anaesthetic or sleep dentistry. Afterwards, pain medication and antibiotics will be prescribed.
